Shacky Cabin - Yarra Valley

Sharing dog-friendly getaways near Melbourne where you can escape the city hustle and bustle. Shacky has a total of 5 different cabin locations in Victoria, and we visited the one in Yarra Valley, about 12km from Melbourne. The cabin is small, but the estate is huge, situated on a 1500-acre farm with vast bushland, many streams, and a large dam.

▫️ Weekday price $349, weekend price $399, and long weekends require a minimum two-night booking. So plan and book ahead according to your budget. We booked our desired weekend three months in advance.

▫️ The cabin facilities are very well-equipped with a small fridge, gas stove, fan, water heater, sound system, pots, pans, and utensils. So all you need to bring is food! Since everything around is quite far, it's advisable to buy groceries in advance and cook for yourself.

▫️ The cabin is dog-friendly, so water bowls and toys are provided for your furry friends! Very thoughtful.

▫️ There's an outdoor fire pit with alcohol blocks and lighters provided, so it's very easy to start a fire at night. You can also chop wood and grill food yourself. We tried roasting corn on the fire at night, although it ended up quite burnt, it was still fun hehe.

▫️ The night sky is really beautiful! You can see the Milky Way with the naked eye. But because it's not in the city, there's a big temperature difference between day and night, so it's recommended to bring warm clothing. Otherwise, it gets really cold sitting outside at night.

▫️ Check-in time is at 3 pm, check-out time is at 11 am, so you can sleep in until after 10 on weekends and then leisurely pack up and head back!

▫️ Nearby attractions include Yarra Valley vineyards and a national park where you can hike with your dog if the weather is good.
