Peeing anywhere at home
If your dog usually uses the designated spot for peeing, but suddenly starts urinating anywhere in the house, it could be expressing dissatisfaction or even a sign of rebellion. Don’t indulge your dog; correct the behaviour promptly. Train them to use a specific area for peeing and avoid allowing them to do it anywhere when upset.
Running and colliding aimlessly when going out
It’s normal for dogs to be curious and excited when going out to play. However, if you’re already holding the leash, and your dog keeps pulling and rushing forward, seemingly trying to break free, it reflects a failure in training. After a period of time with proper training, dogs should understand that they shouldn’t run aimlessly, and such behaviour should be corrected.
Sitting beside you while you eat
When you’re having a meal, and your dog sits beside you, waiting for food, it may seem like a friendly gesture, but it doesn’t establish the right owner-pet relationship. This behaviour isn’t conducive to proper dog training and may make the dog think it’s equal to the owner, leading to undesirable behaviours at home. Instead, you can use commands to train your dog to sit and wait while you eat and reward it with some food when it behaves accordingly.
Rummaging through the trash can
If your dog frequently rummages through the trash and eats garbage, some owners might ignore it or clean up quietly. However, this only encourages the behaviour and makes the dog think it’s acceptable. Dogs often dig through trash to find food, and if this happens, it should be stopped immediately to avoid potential health risks from ingesting harmful substances.
Constantly opposing you
The most evident sign of failed dog training is when the dog constantly opposes you. These dogs tend to hold grudges and don’t see you as their true owner, leading to disobedience and a lack of response to your commands. It’s advisable to start training your dog from an early age, emphasising obedience training and using positive reinforcement techniques, such as combining treats with praise to achieve better training results.
