Celebrating all pet mums this Mother’s Day

With Mother’s Day around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about ways we can give back to all mothers – whether they’re human or four-legged!

From showering her with gifts, to tackling pet-related chores to spending quality time, here are a variety of ways that you can show appreciation for pet mothers on Sunday 8 May and beyond. 

Cleaning up after the family pet

It has been revealed that 66 percent of pet owners go through some difficulties in their ‘pet parenting’ experiences, with 23 percent of owners specifying that cleaning up after the pet is their main struggle.

No one enjoys the unpleasant task of vacuuming pet hairs or picking up their pet’s droppings, especially mum! This Mother’s Day, go the extra mile by searching the house for dog hairs, and make sure mum’s cherished lawns, decking and pavement are untouched by your furry family member’s unwanted offerings. 

Give the dog a bath

If your mum loves nothing more than a freshly washed pup, have a go at giving the dog a wash and blow dry. When choosing grooming products for your pet, it’s important to consider their coat type, if they have allergies, or sensitive skin. 

Be sure to give your dog a good brush before bathing them, as this will remove a lot of the dirt and make bathing easier. Use lukewarm water, talk to them in a calm and reassuring voice and use a high-quality dog shampoo and conditioner. Clean the inside of your dog’s ears and hair around their eyes using a pet safe ear cleaner to gently clean the eye area and remove any ‘gunk’ that can block the tear ducts and cause infection.
