Our experience

There are 14 designated off-leash dog areas in Hobsons Bay. Burns Reserve (Altona Dog Beach) is one of them!

At Dog Beach Altona, you and your dog can enjoy countless activities, from long walks along the shore to agility courses and training classes. Your pup can take a dip in the shallow waters, dive into waves of sand or play fetch with their favourite toys. Let them explore the surrounding landscape, rolling grassy knolls or busy bushlands. A day out at Dog Beach Altona may become one of your pup’s most memorable outdoor adventures—and yours too!

Before you hit the beach, make sure to bring some supplies that will make your pup’s day out even more enjoyable. Pack their favourite leash, treats and toys so they can explore safely and happily. Doggy bags are essential for keeping the beach clear of any mess. Don't forget to bring towels to dry them off when they come out of the water and a first aid kit just in case they get injured during playtime. Finally, don’t forget to put sunscreen on — not only for you but also for your furry friend!

Restrictions

Dogs are restricted from these beaches from 10am to 9.30pm from 1 November to 30 April every year, seven days a week. At all other times, dogs must be on a leash.
