Sandridge Dog Beach Information

Sandridge Beach is surrounded by the port, however, has been landscaped which makes it a lovely beach to walk along if you live in the area.

The beach is often patrolled by surf lifesavers on the weekends during the warmer months, so you will spot the red and yellow flags on the beach when they are on duty. These flags indicate where the safest spot is to swim on the beach.

Dogs are permitted on Sandridge Beach between the rock groyne opposite Barak Road and the rock groyne opposite Cumberland Road. They must remain on a leash. Dogs are permitted off-leash at all times in certain areas.

  • 1 April to 31 October – Dogs allowed on sand area.
  • 1 November to 31 March - Dogs allowed on sand between the rock groyne opposite Barak Road and the rock groyne opposite Cumberland Road. Dogs cannot go on sand anywhere else on Sandridge Beach.

Some of the amenities that make this beach worth visiting include large sheltered picnic tables, BBQ facilities and clean water. There is also a cafe and kiosk on site selling hot food and cold drinks. Fitness enthusiasts may also use the bike path that runs to the east. Free parking is also available.
