We’ve discovered another great off-leash spot with a huge area—all of a small hill is available for off-leash play. There aren’t many people around, making it more fun than the dog park.
Use Google Maps to navigate to Point Hut Crossing, Australian Capital Territory (it takes about 30 minutes from Belconnen). Park here; the parking lot has a map and a restroom.
The green shaded area on the map is off-leash, and there’s also an off-leash water area where dogs can swim, though we didn’t visit that part this time.
Follow the path from the parking lot until you reach the first junction (photo three).
Dogs aren’t allowed to the left, but they are to the right.
Following the right path will lead you to the off-leash fenced area. The fenced area is large, with dog drinking water and seating.
There were very few people, we went on a Sunday morning and encountered only five or six people on the way.
The dogs could play freely, and after off-leash play, we hiked a bit more until Caramel was exhausted before heading home.
Be mindful of pests, as summer is coming. We saw several active ant nests along the path. This area doesn’t provide dog waste bags or bins, so you need to bring your own .
